WIFI ACCESS

  • Network: CAMP

  • Password: Dorothy540

The internet has been updated to Verizon FIOS. The CAMP network utilizes the Google Mesh to boost the signal throughout the house. Sometimes if the internet seems slow, simply unplug the router and Google Mesh from the wall in the queen guest bedroom and give it a moment to refresh. After about 40 seconds, plug it back in. If you have any issues, please reach out to Clark.

WELCOME

PLEASE REVIEW UPON YOUR ARRIVAL

  • Check-in is no earlier than 1:00PM on Thursdays. This gives the cleaning staff enough time to prepare CAMP before your arrival.

  • There is a lockbox found in the garbage room on the left side of the gate house (directly above the blue recycling bin). The small key opens the first sliding door to the kitchen. All of the other doors can be unlocked once inside. Please request the code from Clark via text before arrival.

  • Each room has some new furniture and blackout blinds. Please treat these with care. Each bed now has a provided phone charging cable, side table, and lamp.

  • All lights in the bedrooms are connected to the main light switch(es) on the wall, so please avoid unplugging if possible. Phone chargers are already plugged in for ease of use.

  • A friendly reminder, all homes on Fire Island Pines utilize a septic system. All water used in the house (Showers, Toilets, Washing Machine, Dishwasher, etc.) goes into the septic tank. Please be mindful of your water consumption.

  • Wet Wipes should NEVER be used or flushed down the toilet, as they will clog the septic system. It is a CAMP cardinal sin and any costs incurred due to their use will be passed along.

  • We love animals at CAMP but want to avoid any damage they might cause. A waterproof, machine-washable couch cover can be found to the right of the couch (the big, gray, furry throw blanket). Please place this over the couch and cushions to avoid pet stains, shedding, and clawing. If accidents happen, especially on the rugs, there is a cleaning spray under the kitchen sink specifically for pet stains. Please try to clean as quickly as possible to avoid/minimize replacement costs.

  • Since CAMP does not currently collect a security deposit, we use an honor code for when things break or are damaged. Please alert Clark via text when you discover something broken and we can discuss next steps together.

  • In the kitchen, there are two garbage bins near the refrigerator. We no longer are recycling plastic, tin, or glass at CAMP due to challenges with the garbage service on the island, so please use both bins for garbage. There is a bin under the sink that is for paper recycling only.

  • Garbage is picked up Monday and Thursday mornings. Paper recycling is picked up Wednesday mornings. It is your responsibility to bring your garbage to the gatehouse before you check out. Please note, there are bungee cords with clips that should be secured at all times to help with animal management.

  • Each bedroom has an A/C wall unit that can be turned on via the light switch below the unit. They work very well when you ensure that the internal and external doors to the bedroom remain closed. If left open, the rooms will not cool efficiently.

  • There is a new ceiling fan in the living room -- please use as you see fit. When you open the screen doors, it will move the air efficiently, cooling the room down significantly. There is no A/C in the main living room.

  • Use the fireplace! For fire safety, we recommend using ONLY Duraflame Logs that can be purchased at the Pines Pantry. They burn clean and don’t create embers that can float up the chimney and cause a fire. Make sure the chimney flue is open by turning the metal handle on the right side of the fireplace to a vertical position. This will let the smoke out. Close it when finished (turn horizontal).

  • There are fire safety blankets next to the couch, under the kitchen sink, and under the grill in case of emergency.

  • Please feel free to tap into the condiments, spices, and non-perishables that are found in the pantry shelves above the stove. The refrigerator may also contain non-perishables that can be used by all. Please replace what you use so other CAMPERS can benefit.

  • CAMP has an automatic irrigation system installed to help keep the potted plants alive (to the best of our ability). The hose spigot at the front of the house has the automated watering system attached. Please take special care to NOT turn off the whole spigot when you use the hose to wash your feet. The spigot is split so each side can be controlled individually while leaving the water turned on for the irrigation.

  • The sexy new black outdoor furniture will only remain sexy if CAMPERS take care. Please open/close the umbrellas carefully.  There is a pedal that allows the umbrellas to rotate when opening. Call Clark if you have any questions on how to use them.

  • The day bed and outdoor bean bags have a rain cover. Please be sure to use this in the event of a rainstorm. Additional cushions/pillows for the loungers can be found in the outdoor trunk. Please return these to the trunk to limit exposure to rain. DO NOT PLACE THE BEAN BAGS IN THE POOL. They are meant for dry use only.

  • If you would like to turn the pool heater on (max 84), please shoot Clark a text for more detailed instructions. There is a $300 charge for its use through the week. As we don’t currently charge extra for electrical use, we are able to track daily wattage usage to inform the surcharge. If more electric is utilized than the $300, the additional costs will be passed along to you.

DEPARTURE CHECKLIST

PLEASE REVIEW BEFORE YOU LEAVE

  • Check-out is no later than 6:00PM on Wednesdays.

  • Please be sure to return the key to the lockbox so the cleaning staff and future CAMPERS can access the house.

  • Please plug back in all bedroom lighting and phone charging cables to their original outlets for ease of use by future CAMPERS.

  • Please take the white fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillow cases off your bed and place them in a laundry basket found in the shed. Please place your dirty towels in a separate laundry basket. The quilts and dark pillow cases should remain on your bed, as the cleaning crew will take care of these separately.

  • To ensure all towels and sheets can be washed efficiently, please try to do a full load (or two) of sheets and/or towels through both the washer AND dryer before leaving. Do not allow laundry to sit wet in the machine as it will grow mildew.

  • Please ensure that all light switches are turned off, including the A/C units.

  • Please be sure that all perishable items from the refrigerator are thrown out. Wipe down any spills within.

  • Replenish any items utilized from the pantry.

  • Garbage is picked up Monday and Thursday mornings. Paper recycling is picked up Wednesday mornings. It is your responsibility to bring your garbage to the gatehouse before you check out. Please note, there are bungee cords with clips that should be secured at all times to help with animal management.

  • Since CAMP does not currently collect a security deposit, we use an honor code for when things break or are damaged. Please alert Clark via text when you discover something broken and we can discuss next steps together.

  • CAMP has an automatic irrigation system installed to help keep the potted plants alive (to the best of our ability). The hose spigot at the front of the house has the automated watering system attached. The spigot is split, so please check that the irrigation side is left on before departure.

  • Please ensure the rain cover is put over the daybed + bean bag chairs and that all cushions/pillows are returned to the outdoor trunk to avoid rain damage.

  • Please be sure the outdoor BBQ grill gas has been turned off, grill wiped down, and rain cover put back on.

  • At the end of your week, please be sure to send $225 for the Cleaning Crew via Venmo to @ClarkCohen. The cleaners will arrive Wednesday evening and continue through the afternoon on Thursday.

  • If any of your personal items are left behind, please let Clark know as soon as possible to help arrange their return.

  • If using the pool heater, please be sure this is turned off ahead of your departure.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

SAMSUNG FRAME TV

The Smart TVs are available for your use. To turn them on, simply click the button in the top left of the remote. This will also allow you to toggle between art mode and television. There are many apps on the TV, many of which are already logged in. Please feel free to utilize these, but do not purchase any movies on these accounts. If you do, the charges will be passed along with an incurred fee.

SONOS

CAMP has a SONOS sound system, with speakers in the main living space (Den, Den 2 / Pool), primary bathroom (Counselor Toilet), primary bedroom (Counselor Cabin / Pool) and two additional bedrooms (Twin Cabin, Hudson-Packard Cabin). The Speakers in the primary bedroom and den are a MOVE and can be pulled outside for use by the pool. There is a small hook on the wall that the speaker can be secured to for greater sound amplification. Please be sure to return the MOVE speaker to its charging dock each night, as rain will damage the speaker.
